Karl
B.Mus. (Hons) D.P.S. (Mus. Perf.) L.R.S.M. (Mus. Perf.)
I’ve spent over 30 years teaching piano and music theory throughout the Midlands and Gloucestershire, including at Pate’s Grammar School, Hydesville Tower School, King's School, and the Midlands Arts Centre. Alongside teaching, I enjoy performing as a pianist, composing, and music production.

I’m originally from Leicestershire and began piano and cello lessons at a young age, later being awarded the highest ABRSM grade 8 scores in the county for both instruments. I went on to focus on piano at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where I earned a Bachelor of Music (Hons), and was awarded the Dennis Matthews Scholarship to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Studies (Music Performance).

I’ve performed as a soloist and with ensembles across the UK, working with conductors such as Edwin Roxburgh and Peter Donohoe, and have also toured in the USA and throughout Europe.
Competitions and awards include the Birmingham & Midland Institute Piano Prize, the Derek Young Memorial Award, the Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Music Award, the Dudley Millennium Regional Piano Award, the Chandos Young Musician Accompanists Prize, and the Rivendell Trust Accompanists Prize.

From 1999 to 2004, I played as resident pianist at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham, and I’ve also performed as a classical musician on Fred Olsen and Saga cruise ships.
In 2006, I earned a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) in piano performance.

I offer one-to-one lessons in classical, pop and jazz piano/keyboard, as well as ABRSM theory (grades 1–8), and composition tuition. I’m happy to travel to your home in the Lincoln area for in-person piano, music theory, or composition lessons, and I also provide online music theory lessons via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to learn more or book a lesson.
